FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Thank you for visiting our website bachfromhome.live. Enjoy the concerts of our festivals at home. Whether on your computer, tablet, smartphone or television - experience our events as a live stream or a video-on-demand in HD quality.

Our events are usually broadcast live and can be viewed afterwards in our archive as a video-on-demand [VoD] at any time. There you will already find a selection of concerts with the leading Bach interpreters of our time. We also offer bonus material such as interviews, films and documentaries.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

What is Bach from home?

Bach from home is a joint project of the festivals Thuringia Bach Festival, the Bachfest Leipzig and the Köthener Bachfesttage. On this homepage we present concerts as live broadcasts or recordings to allow those, who cannot be present directly on site, to experience concerts at the historic locations of Bach’s life and work.

Why are the concerts not free of charge?

Art is not for free - as artists deserve getting paid. That is why we have decided not to offer the concerts shown here free of charge.

As when physically attending a concert, by buying a ticket you help to pay artists an appropriate fee for their performance - and in the same way you help us as to compensate, at least proportionally, for the not inconsiderable expense of a sound and video recording.

B+A+C+H = 14. This is the basic price we ask for a digital concert visit. If you would like to support the artists, technicians, service providers and promoters involved, you can also purchase a sponsorship or patronage ticket. All those involved would like to thank you in advance for your contribution!

Can I watch concerts only live or also at a later date?

All concerts will be streamed live, but will remain available afterwards in our video on demand section (library). This will allow you to watch all concerts also at a later date. The log-in codes will remain valid. The switch from live to the library usually needs a few hours due to technical adjustments, so we may have to ask you for your patience.

If a concert has to be cancelled, will the money for the tickets be refunded?

If the concert cannot be rescheduled and the event is cancelled, the ticket price paid will of course be refunded.

Stream

What technical requirements do I need for the stream?

First and foremost, you need a stable internet connection with at least 16 Mbit/s. We recommend the latest version of Google Chrome as the preferred browser, preferably on a desktop computer or laptop. This can optionally be connected to your TV, e.g. via HDMI cable. The site is not optimized for Smart TV, Apple Airplay and game consoles, so we cannot guarantee that the stream will run without interference on such devices. Cookies and pop-ups must be allowed for this page.

Does the stream also work via LTE on mobile devices?

If a stable LTE connection is available and you are using a current and popular mobile device, this should not be a problem. Nevertheless, we recommend watching the stream via WiFi on a desktop computer or laptop, as there can be large fluctuations on the mobile network and occasional interference with some mobile devices. You should also bear in mind that an HD stream consumes approx. 1.5 to 3 GB of data per hour, so you must have a large volume of data available.

Can I adjust the volume of the video live stream?

Of course you can adjust the volume using the volume control on your end device.

Who do I contact if my streaming code does not work?

If you have any problems, please feel free to send an e-mail to kontakt@bachfromhome.live. We will reply as soon as possible (and immediately during concert live-streams).

What shall I do if the stream is interrupted, the player displays an error message or does not load or play the stream?

[1] Reload the player page
[2] Close the player page, return to the start page and log in again with the streaming code.
[3] Clear the browser cache, restart the browser and log in again with the streaming code.

If none of these three steps helped, please contact us by e-mail at kontakt@bachfromhome.live.

Why does the stream stop?

The data load on the internet, especially in the evening hours, is extremely high. This can lead to extreme fluctuations and to minor disruptions, which in some cases cause the stream to break off. Another reason is the parallel use of internet access with several devices and applications when the stream is running. An existing WiFi capacity is then shared by several devices, i.e. the individual device then has significantly less capacity available than the total capacity offered by the internet provider.

Picture and sound are not synchronized in my stream, what is the reason for this?

In most cases, this is due to the transmission via the internet and the high fluctuations in the transmission capacity. In some cases it helps to restart the modem once and then log back into the event with the streaming code.

I have further questions about streaming:

This information cannot be allocated to the respective newsletter recipient. Their sole purpose is the performance of statistical analyses of newsletter campaigns. The results of such analyses can be used to tailor future newsletters to the interests of their recipients more effectively.
